DARIO BORTOLATO (ITALY)

Originally from the province of Varese, I am an IT technician. Music, for better or worse, is a hobby. That is, pursued with commitment and passion in my free time. My musical background comes from the band world where I predominantly played drums and percussion. This environment, “classical” music, and film scores ignited within me the desire to know and understand the world of composition and arrangement. I privately studied harmony, counterpoint, and orchestration, although it is mainly as a self-taught individual that I have delved into all these subjects. I have several publications to my name, including scores and CDs.

Born and raised in Italy, he embarked on his musical journey at the age of 12, developing his background studying guitar and music engineering at the Conservatories of Milano and Alessandria. Currently, he scores films, trailers, and documentaries, seamlessly combining his roles as composer and performer, reflecting his versatile skill set and dedication.

RYAN KANE PHOTO 2

RYAN KANE (UNITED KINGDOM)

Hailing from Northern Ireland, my musical journey began with studies in composition and orchestration at the University of Liverpool. Currently, I share my passion for music by teaching post-primary students while continuously evolving as a composer. For over a decade, I’ve created composition for performance and for moving images, and now, at 30, I’m excited to venture into my first composition competition. My time at the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Hall has shaped my understanding of all things musical and has helped in enriching my compositions with depth and complexity. With every composition I try to blend tradition with innovation, weaving music into and (hopefully) allowing the music to resonate with audiences, aiming to capture the atmosphere and emotions characters. I look forward to what the future will bring!

Alessandro Speciale Photo 2

ALESSANDRO SPECIALE (ITALY)

My earliest memories with music date back to when, at the age of three, I experimented with one finger on my grandmother’s piano, fascinated by the sounds of that black box. Since then, my relationship with music has been founded on that same genuine, sincere curiosity of the beginning—from my early years in bands to the three-year period at the Conservatory, up to the challenging experiences of the Masters. Even in the many periods of great sacrifice and professional commitment, in moments of discouragement, during the “frenzied and desperate study” as a self-taught student of orchestration, that playfulness has always been a driving element for my experiments.
